Baseball Game Preview: Gibbs Gladiators vs. Lakeland Dreadnaughts

The Gibbs Gladiators are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibbs has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gibbs lost 18-2 to Bayshore on Thursday. The Gladiators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lakeland can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past IMG Academy Gray 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dreadnaughts have posted since March 6th.

ELI MILLER was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. MILLER was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, CAMERON FUSE was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was EDRICK AYALA, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Gibbs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lakeland, their record is now 10-11.

Gibbs might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Lakeland in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Gladiators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
