On the hitting side, Apple Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Duran, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washburn). Everything went their way against Camden on Monday as they made off with a 35-1 win. The Millers have beaten the Patriots the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.
Ellerie Ulfers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Ulfers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Washburn let Emalyn Streifel and Lynn Austin run wild. Streifel got on base in five of her six plate appearances with six runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Austin got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Streifel has posted over her last 13 contests. Caroline Bretl was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Washburn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Apple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Washburn, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
