Baseball Recap: Calhoun Comes Up Short

Calhoun extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-20. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Roane County Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.

As for Roane County, their win bumped their record up to 11-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 7th.

For Roane County's part, Landen Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, Williams posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Roane County got a big performance out of Byron Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Taylor a new career-high. Wyatt Brabham was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun will welcome South Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roane County, they will take on Scott at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
