Preview: Hartland Eagles vs. Canton Chiefs

The Hartland Eagles will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Canton Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. Hartland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Canton is ranked 33rd).

Hartland suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Novi by a score of 43-41. Hartland has not had much luck with Novi recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Canton came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Brighton 64-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Canton has posted since December 1, 2023.

Canton had a senior duo take command as Bradley Eziuka scored 21 points along with two steals and Devon Pettus dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Williams, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Hartland's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Canton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Hartland took a serious blow against Canton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 76-25. Thankfully for Hartland, Omar Suleiman (who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
