Volleyball Recap: Sarah Lovett Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Stamford

While St. Joseph's victory against Stamford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cadets won by a set and slipped past the Black Knights 3-2. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Black Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (93-82) St. Joseph actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-14, 25-16, 5-25, 15-13.

St. Joseph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Lovett, who had 21 kills, eight digs, and three aces. Lovett is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mary DeCaro, who had 23 digs.

The win got St. Joseph back to even at 10-10. As for Stamford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

As of now, neither St. Joseph nor the Black Knights have any future games scheduled.
