Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies

The Lexington Minutemen will head out to face off against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lexington will be strutting in after a win while Johnstown-Monroe will be coming in after a defeat.

Lexington came out on top against Madison Comprehensive on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Minutemen put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Minutemen haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Johnstown-Monroe suffered their closest loss since April 17, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Lakewood by a score of 3-1. The Johnnies have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Johnstown-Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braeden Archibald, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Johnstown-Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.

Lexington beat Johnstown-Monroe 15-11 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Minutemen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
