Basketball Game Preview: Churchill Chargers vs. Franklin Patriots

Churchill hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Churchill Chargers will welcome the Franklin Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Churchill will be strutting in after a victory while Franklin will be coming in after a defeat.

Churchill will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Glenn, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Churchill walked away with a 51-44 win over Glenn on Friday. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Rockets are ranked 533rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Wayne Memorial, falling 82-50. The Patriots were down 57-35 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Churchill's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Churchill didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Franklin in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Franklin's Owen Pittenger, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Churchill still be able to contain Pittenger? There's only one way to find out.
