Basketball Game Preview: Caney Creek Panthers vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

Caney Creek is 0-5 against The Woodlands since December of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Caney Creek Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against The Woodlands Highlanders at 6:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, Caney Creek ended up a good deal behind Fulshear and lost 49-34. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1001st, while the Chargers are ranked 64th).

Caney Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mackenzie Harrah, who posted seven points, and Brianna Mcbride, who put up five points and four steals. Those four steals gave Mcbride a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Caney Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for The Woodlands, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Willis, posting a 73-30 victory. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

The Woodlands is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Caney Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18.
