Baseball Preview: West Point Pointers vs. King William Cavaliers
West Point is 0-10 against King William since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Pointers will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
West Point headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Mathews let them put that streak behind them. The Pointers were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Blue Devils on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pointers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Blake Keefe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
