Flag Football Game Preview: Legacy Lightning vs. Northglenn Norsemen

The Legacy Lightning will venture away from home to take on the Northglenn Norsemen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Legacy's defense has only allowed 7.9 points per game this season, so Northglenn's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Legacy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Mountain View, who was ranked 15th at the time (Legacy was ranked 22nd). The Lightning took a 19-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Lions on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, after only 13 points in their last game, Northglenn made sure to put some points up on the board against Skyview on Wednesday. The Norsemen simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolverines 67-0. With that win, the Norsemen brought their scoring average up to 26.6 points per game.

Legacy better keep an eye on Kaitlyn Fujinami. She was instrumental in Northglenn's win, throwing for 215 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 83.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 45 yards and one TD. Fujinami also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, defending four passes. Vanessa Rodriguez was Fujinami's top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and three scores.

Northglenn didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off seven passes before the game was over. Evelynn Jaimes led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by herself. Karol Martinez-Tiscareno is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as she's now made six or more in each of the last six games she's played. Leah Jaimes got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Northglenn has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.2 points on average over those games. As for Legacy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.

Legacy was taken down by Northglenn 31-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
