Volleyball Recap: Madison Central Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Newton County

Madison Central faced Newton County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Jaguars blew past the Cougars 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

While Madison Central won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 26-24, 25-13.

Caroline Mcintyre paced Madison Central's offense, picking up 14 kills. Mcintyre got some help from Morgan Martin and her 33 assists. Mcintyre was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Madison Central's victory bumped their record up to 25-9. As for Newton County, they moved to 25-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-match winning streak.

Looking ahead, Madison Central will welcome Brandon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newton County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against South Jones on the 27th.
