Baseball Recap: DeSoto Takes a Loss

DeSoto extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Parkway Central Colts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 7-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Parkway Central, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 15, 2024.

For Parkway Central's part, Parker Russell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. Russell also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Colts are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Parkway Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Sasfai, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSoto will square off against Windsor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Parkway Central, they will head out to challenge Hazelwood West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
