Softball Recap: Gatlinburg-Pittman Has No Trouble Against Pigeon Forge

Gatlinburg-Pittman got themselves on the board against Pigeon Forge on Thursday, but Pigeon Forge never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 16-0. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Bailey Norris made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four).

In other batting news, Ryleigh Mercogliano was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sadie Moore was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Gatlinburg-Pittman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pigeon Forge only posted a batting average of .000.

Gatlinburg-Pittman's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Pigeon Forge, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Gatlinburg-Pittman will be playing in front of their home fans against PikeView at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pigeon Forge, they will head out on the road to challenge Oneida at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
