Basketball Game Preview: Grovetown Warriors vs. Greenbrier Wolfpack

Grovetown and Greenbrier are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.

Grovetown is headed into Wednesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-41 heartbreaker at the hands of Rockdale County. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier hadn't done well against Evans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Greenbrier took down Evans 73-59. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Knights are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenbrier has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Grovetown, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Grovetown beat Greenbrier 88-76 when the teams last played back in November of 2020. Does Grovetown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greenbrier turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
