Volleyball Game Preview: La Mirada Matadores vs. Samueli Academy Firewolves

The La Mirada Matadores will challenge the Samueli Academy Firewolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: La Mirada has struggled recently with 16 defeats in a row, while Samueli Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

On Thursday, La Mirada didn't have quite enough to beat Mayfair and fell 3-2.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, La Mirada sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Samueli Academy hadn't done well against Avalon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Firewolves had just enough and edged out the Lancers 3-2.

Samueli Academy took Avalon into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 25-0, 25-0, 18-25, 18-25, 15-9.

Samueli Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for La Mirada, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.
