Pewaukee is 1-9 against New Berlin West since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pewaukee has three straight wins, New Berlin West has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Pewaukee got the win against Brookfield Academy by a conclusive 19-1.
Hailey Hutchens was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hutchens was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mya Bloedow was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lili Levas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Pewaukee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookfield Academy only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, New Berlin West had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 11-1 to Brookfield Central on Friday.
New Berlin West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Serena Klein, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Pewaukee's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.8 runs thus far. As for New Berlin West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Pewaukee skirted past New Berlin West 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
