Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast Falls Despite Big Games from Joshua Nunn and Emmanuel Ard

Richland Northeast lost against Lancaster back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers took a 60-43 bruising from the Lancaster Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Bruins are ranked fourth).

Richland Northeast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emmanuel Ard, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds, and Joshua Nunn, who posted six points and eight boards. Damarcus Haliburton was another key player, putting up four points.

Lancaster was led to victory by Jordan Watford and Columbus Parker. Watford went 10 of 17 on his way to 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Parker went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five boards. Those six steals gave Watford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacarey Ballard, who put up five points.

Richland Northeast dropped their record down to 3-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lancaster, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Richland Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-38 loss against Dreher on the 8th. As for Lancaster, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-53 win against A.C. Flora on the 8th.
