Basketball Recap: Mt. Rainier's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Mt. Rainier came into Friday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged the Stadium Tigers out 41-39. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 37-34 back in January.

Stadium lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cecilia Tatlonghari, who posted nine points. That's the most points Tatlonghari has posted since back in December of 2023. Alyx Buckner was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mt. Rainier's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-12 and their overall record up to 3-14. As for Stadium, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Mt. Rainier and Stadium could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Mt. Rainier (ranked 262nd) will meet Kennedy Catholic (ranked 63rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stadium will square off against Tahoma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 270 places (292 vs. 22).
