Football Recap: St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans vs. Monticello Sages
After flying high against Rantoul last Friday, St. Joseph-Ogden came back down to earth. The Spartans took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monticello Sages on Friday. The Spartans were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
St. Joseph-Ogden's loss came despite strong showings from Kodey McKinney and Kaden Wedig. McKinney rushed for 69 yards and a pair of scores, while Wedig picked up 189 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wedig was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 67 yards.
Even if they lost, St. Joseph-Ogden's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
