The Aquinas Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Woodcrest Christian Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Aquinas has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Aquinas will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Loma Linda Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Roadrunners 3-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted against the Roadrunners since April 11, 2023.
Aquinas got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-12, 25-17, 36-38, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Woodcrest Christian waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since March 1st.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Woodcrest Christian got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 25-17, 26-28, 15-9.
Aquinas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Woodcrest Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Aquinas was able to grind out a solid victory over Woodcrest Christian in their previous meeting on April 1st, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
