Softball Recap: Tuscaloosa Academy Wins Going Away Against Aliceville

It's playoff time, and Tuscaloosa Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Aliceville Yellowjackets on Monday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Lillian Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anna Claire Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Lily Lucas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Tuscaloosa Academy pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Aliceville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Tuscaloosa Academy nor Aliceville have any future games scheduled.
