Recap: Praise Academy Lions vs. Lafayette Christian Cougars
It was a good run, but The Praise Academy Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They fell to Lafayette Christian 22-16. Praise Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lafayette Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Despite the loss, Praise Academy still got an impressive performance from Kendall Davis, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
Praise Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Lafayette Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Praise Academy will head out on the road to face off against Holy Ground Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Ground Baptist Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, Praise Academy a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Lafayette Christian will take on Sherwood Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sherwood Christian Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
