Softball Recap: Paul VI Drops Season-High Score on Sidwell Friends

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paul VI). They put the hurt on the Sidwell Friends Quakers with a sharp 24-2 win on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paul VI got a massive performance out of Gabby Hager, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Hager a new career-high. Ashley Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Hager wasn't the only one making solid contact: Paul VI kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Paul VI now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Sidwell Friends, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Paul VI will square off against Elizabeth Seton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sidwell Friends, they will challenge Flint Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Quakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
