Basketball Recap: Maple Valley Takes a Loss

Maple Valley played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Reading Rangers, falling 62-34. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Rangers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Maple Valley still got an impressive performance from Ines Sanchez Feito, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine steals. That was a full 73.5% of Maple Valley's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Abbigail Harvey also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Reading's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maggie Santure led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. Santure has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Aubree Ervans was another key player, going 8 of 15 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Maple Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Reading, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Maple Valley will welcome Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Concord will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Maple Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reading, they will head out to square off against Springport at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Reading will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
