Baseball Game Preview: Smith Academy Falcons vs. Lenox Memorial Millionaires

The Smith Academy Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Lenox Memorial Millionaires at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smith Academy will be strutting in after a win while Lenox Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Smith Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Mahar Regional by a score of 5-1.

Harrison LaFlamme made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. LaFlamme was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double. LaFlamme is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Ryann Mccoy was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Owen Belden was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lenox Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 16-9 to Taconic. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Millionaires' highest-scoring match to date.

Brady DiGrigoli was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Robbie Bazinet, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lenox Memorial now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Smith Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Smith Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lenox Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Smith Academy suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Lenox Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
