Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Comes Up Short

Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings, falling 66-46. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Nafi Balde, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Those 21 points gave Balde a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mona Okorie, who posted six points and nine boards.

Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Holy Cross is taking a road trip to challenge Archbishop Molloy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, they will host Blair Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
