Softball Recap: Vestaburg Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Vestaburg is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Coleman on Monday, but Coleman came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Wolverines came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Comets. The two-run effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Sasha Page spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Vestaburg's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Vestaburg's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.6 runs thus far. As for Coleman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Vestaburg will venture away from home to square off against Montabella at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coleman, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-11 defeat against Merrill on the 16th.
