Softball Game Preview: Guajome Park Academy Frogs vs. Julian Eagles

The Guajome Park Academy Frogs are taking a road trip to take on the Julian Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Guajome Park Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Maranatha Christian on Wednesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 25-2. The loss continues a trend for the Frogs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Guajome Park Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Franco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Julian lost 18-11 to Vincent Memorial on Wednesday.

Avalina Magante-Ortiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Charlee Sparks was another, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Julian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Guajome Park Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Guajome Park Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Julian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Guajome Park Academy beat Julian 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Frogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
