Softball Game Preview: Payson Longhorns vs. ALA - Ironwood Warriors

The Payson Longhorns will face off against the ALA - Ironwood Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Payson beat Camp Verde 9-4. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Kinikki Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Logann Prock, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5. Prock is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Caelee Boyle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask ALA - Ironwood). They blew past Dysart 15-4 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Payson now has a winning record of 2-1. As for ALA - Ironwood, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
