Baseball Game Preview: Henrietta Bearcats vs. Iowa Park Hawks

Henrietta hasn't had much luck against Iowa Park recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bearcats will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Henrietta's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Jacksboro 1-0. The game was the first time the Bearcats have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 11, 2017.

The result came thanks to Caden Frost's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Henrietta's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Coleman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Iowa Park beat Boyd 7-2 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Iowa Park let CJ McNeill and Layton Deluna run wild. McNeill scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Deluna scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Deluna a new career-high in RBI (two). Kane Decker was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Henrietta is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Iowa Park, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Henrietta came up short against Iowa Park when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
