Softball Recap: Lakeside Victorious

After losing to Laurel the last time they met, Lakeside decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dragons walked away with a 19-14 win over the Gators on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Keeley Faenza, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Emily Olson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakeside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside will host Madison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Streaks have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Laurel, they will be playing at home against St. Martin de Porres at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
