Softball Recap: Larue County Takes a Loss

Larue County had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 24-10 to make it four. They came up short against the South Warren Spartans, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 13th.

As for South Warren, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 36-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.9 runs this season.

For South Warren's part, Courtney Norwood made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Norwood has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, South Warren got a massive performance out of Hadley Borders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Borders a new career-high. McLaine Hudson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Larue County will square off against Thomas Nelson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.94 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. South Warren does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
