Volleyball Recap: Brad Chier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Victory Christian Academy over Steele Canyon

Victory Christian Academy lost against Steele Canyon back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Knights took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brad Chier, who had ten kills, nine digs, and one block. Chier has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 26 times he's played. Esteban Torres was another key player, getting 21 assists and four aces.

Victory Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Victory Christian Academy will take on High Tech Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Steele Canyon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Sweetwater on the 26th.
