Softball Recap: Plant City Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bloomingdale, Plant City was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Fort Meade Miners.

Kyleigh Gibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Plant City let Rylee Mobley and Kayleigh Gibbs run wild. Mobley went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Gibbs scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That home run was Mobley's first of the season. Taylor Sher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Plant City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Meade only posted a batting average of .125.

Plant City's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fort Meade, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4.

Plant City has already played their next game, an 18-15 victory against Auburndale on the 14th. As for Fort Meade, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-6 win against Okeechobee on the 15th.
