Basketball Recap: Middle Township Takes a Loss

Middle Township has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wildwood Catholic Crusaders. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 56-55.

Despite the loss, Middle Township still got an impressive performance from Jamir McNeil, who went 10 for 16 en route to 32 points and three steals. McNeil's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chase Moore was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 rebounds.

Middle Township's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 11-6. As for Wildwood Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Middle Township and Wildwood Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Middle Township (ranked 49th) will meet Millville (ranked 309th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middle Township is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Wildwood Catholic will take on Mainland Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 228 places (66 vs. 294).
