Softball Game Preview: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Glastonbury Guardians

The Manchester Red Hawks will take on the Glastonbury Guardians at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Manchester is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Manchester came up short against Bristol Eastern on Thursday, falling 11-5.

Chloe Fontaine '25 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. McKenna Hills-Nevin '26 was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glastonbury). Everything went their way against South Windsor on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Guardians haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Emily Thompson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Page, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Glastonbury's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Manchester, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Manchester might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Glastonbury in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Red Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
