Softball Recap: Emerald Ridge Takes Down Tahoma in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Emerald Ridge rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tahoma Bears, sneaking past 3-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won three matches in a row.

Alanna Wirtala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emerald Ridge's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Payton Robillard, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Emerald Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Tahoma, with the defeat, they broke their 17-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-3.

Emerald Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Issaquah on the 23rd. As for Tahoma, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Moses Lake on the 23rd.
