Softball Preview: Los Banos Tigers vs. Orestimba Warriors
The Los Banos Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Orestimba Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Los Banos will be strutting in after a win while Orestimba will be coming in after a loss.
Los Banos will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Central Valley on Thursday. Los Banos blew past Central Valley 11-2.
Gracie Orozco was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Shayla Hernandez was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Avery Vierra was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Los Banos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley only posted a batting average of .240.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Orestimba's offense. They lost 11-0 to Mountain House on Saturday. The Warriors' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Orestimba's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Los Banos, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
