Football Recap: Evangel Christian Piles Up the Points Against Lighthouse Homeschool

It's playoff time, and Evangel Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Lighthouse HomeSchool Warriors, posting a 50-22 win. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won seven matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Evangel Christian's victory came down to the chemistry between Eli Black and his top target Ben Davis. Black rushed for 104 yards and one score on only 13 carries while Davis picked up 99 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Davis posted two receiving touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Evangel Christian's defense and their three sacks. Whit Bourne refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Evangel Christian got some further help from Max Watson: he made 15 total tackles (1.5 for loss).

The win (which was Evangel Christian's sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for Lighthouse HomeSchool, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Evangel Christian will welcome East Central HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lighthouse HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
