Soccer Game Preview: Howard Tech vs. McMinn County

The Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers will face off against the McMinn County Cherokees at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howard Tech's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Howard Tech is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against East Hamilton on Thursday. Howard Tech fell just short of East Hamilton by a score of 2-1.

Howard Tech's goal came courtesy of Miguel Aguilar, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, McMinn County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Walker Valley, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, McMinn County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Walker Valley are ranked 37th).

Howard Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for McMinn County, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

Everything went Howard Tech's way against McMinn County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Howard Tech made off with a 6-1 win. Will Howard Tech repeat their success, or does McMinn County has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
