Baseball Recap: Cibola Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cibola ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Estrella Foothills Wolves, sneaking past 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Rodrigo Orozco Araiza made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Orozco Araiza wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Lopez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Cibola's record now sits at 8-5. As for Estrella Foothills, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

Cibola will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Gila Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on April 8. As for Estrella Foothills, they will face off against Deer Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Estrella Foothills' pitchers better be ready for this one: Deer Valley has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
