Basketball Recap: Wayne Valley Takes a Loss

Wayne Valley was the 56-53 winner over DePaul Catholic when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Wayne Valley Indians fell just short of the DePaul Catholic Spartans by a score of 57-55 on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Wayne Valley still got an impressive performance from Luke Rubino, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Rubino has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nick D'Apolito, who had six points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Wayne Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Wayne Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for DePaul Catholic, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Wayne Valley will take on NV - Old Tappan on Wednesday. As for DePaul Catholic, they will challenge Delbarton on February 28th.
