Basketball Game Preview: Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves vs. Nemaha Central Thunder

The Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves will take on the Nemaha Central Thunder at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blue Valley Southwest comes in on three and Nemaha Central on seven.

Blue Valley Southwest's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Saturday, when they got past Fort Scott's usually-dominant defense. Blue Valley Southwest secured a 55-49 W over Fort Scott.

Lily Unruh was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 on her way to 22 points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Karter Skillman, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nemaha Central). They blew past Rossville 61-39 on Friday. The Thunder have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Nemaha Central pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points per game. As for Blue Valley Southwest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
