Preview: Burney Raiders vs. Chester Volcanoes
The Burney Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Chester Volcanoes at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The third road match was the charm for Burney, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-14 victory over Plumas Charter.
Alonzo Mercado was a one-man wrecking crew for Burney as he rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries. Mercado was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Kyle Noah was another key contributor, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Chester got themselves on the board against Loyalton on Friday, but Loyalton never followed suit. They blew past the Grizzlies 28-0 at home.
Burney's victory pushed their record up to 3-4, while Chester's bumped their own up to the opposite: 4-3.
Burney might still be hurting after the 30-6 loss they got from Chester when the teams last played back in September. Will Burney have more luck at home instead of on the road?
