Recap: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Romeoville Spartans
After flying high against the Addison Trail Blazers last Friday, the Plainfield South Cougars came back down to earth. Plainfield South took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Romeoville on Tuesday. Plainfield South lost against Romeoville in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-34 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Plainfield South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Destynia Mcgruder. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Mcgruder scored a full 30.8% of Plainfield South's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Mezewich, who scored 6 points.
Plainfield South now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Romeoville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield South will take on Joliet West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Romeoville, they will be playing at home against Plainfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
