Softball Game Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Hondo Owls

Dilley hasn't had much luck against Hondo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolves will welcome the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Dilley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Dilley is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crystal City.

Leala Romeo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariana Urrea, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Hondo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-5 to Cotulla.

Xevi Hernandez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Kristyn Ybarra was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Hondo now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Dilley, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dilley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hondo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
