Baseball Recap: North Marion Takes a Loss

North Marion extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-7. They came up short against the Preston Knights, falling 13-1. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 6-4 to the Knights when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Preston, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Preston's part, Robbie Lowe was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Lowe was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Preston got a massive performance out of Bryson McNew, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The Knights are undefeated when McNew posts one or more home runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, North Marion will head out on the road to challenge Parkersburg South at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Preston, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Buckhannon-Upshur at 1:00 p.m. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucaneers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
