Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Cassie Arevalo and Ava Sorrells Lead Darien to Victory + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Trumbull, Darien was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Blue Wave have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hilltoppers, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Darien was: they took every set by at least 25 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.

Leading Darien to victory were Ava Sorrells and Cassie Arevalo. Sorrells had seven aces and three digs, while Arevalo had nine digs and two aces. Those seven aces gave Sorrells a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Darien was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Darien pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Bridgeport Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Darien is set to challenge their familiar foe New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Bridgeport Central will square off against rival Wilton at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
