Volleyball Recap: Darien Blue Wave vs. Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Trumbull, Darien was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Blue Wave have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hilltoppers, too.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Darien was: they took every set by at least 25 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.
Leading Darien to victory were Ava Sorrells and Cassie Arevalo. Sorrells had seven aces and three digs, while Arevalo had nine digs and two aces. Those seven aces gave Sorrells a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Darien was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
