Basketball Recap: Cooperstown Skates Past New York Mills with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cooperstown). They claimed a resounding 97-39 victory over the New York Mills Marauders. The Hawkeyes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Cooperstown was led to victory by Miles Nelen and Cooper Bradley. Nelen went 11 for 22 on his way to 28 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Bradley dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. The matchup was Nelen's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Coleman, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points.

Cooperstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 26 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why New York Mills lost on Friday, don't look at David Goodfriend. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Miller, who posted five points and five assists.

Cooperstown's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.7 points. As for New York Mills, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

When Cooperstown and New York Mills next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose.
