Preview: Flandreau Fliers vs. Madison Bulldogs
Flandreau is 8-2 against Madison since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Flandreau Fliers will be playing at home against the Madison Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Flandreau's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home while Madison has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
In what's become a running theme this season, Flandreau gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Parker 66-21 at home. Given Flandreau's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Parker is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Madison scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-38 victory over Baltic. That looming 54-38 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Madison yet this season.
Madison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Nelson, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Mcdermott, who scored nine points.
Flandreau's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Madison, their win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-8.
Flandreau took their win against Madison in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 57-36. Does Flandreau have another victory up their sleeve, or will Madison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
